Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo Recipe | Creamy & Easy 30-Minute Pasta

There are some foods that don't need much convincing in my house, and prawns and shrimp are definitely on that list. This easy Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo is creamy, garlicky and packed with tender shrimp. A comforting 30-minute pasta recipe perfect for busy family dinners.

If there is one thing my family can agree on, it's shrimp and prawns! 😂 From spicy desi shrimp curry to grilled prawns and everything in between, seafood has always been a favorite at our dinner table.

So when I combine two family favorites, tender garlic shrimp and creamy Alfredo pasta, you already know there aren't going to be many leftovers!

This Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo is an easy, comforting 30-minute pasta recipe made with tender shrimp, garlic, butter, cream and Parmesan cheese. The result is a silky, creamy Alfredo sauce coating every strand of fettuccine, with juicy shrimp tucked throughout.

It's the kind of easy shrimp pasta recipe that feels restaurant-worthy but is simple enough for a busy weeknight. And honestly, those are my favorite recipes, the ones that look fancy on the table without creating a mountain of dishes in the kitchen!

For my family, anything with prawns or shrimp is usually a guaranteed hit. There is something about that slightly sweet, juicy seafood paired with a rich, garlicky sauce that makes this creamy shrimp Alfredo especially hard to resist.

For my family, pasta night isn't just about the food. It's one of those simple meals where everyone sits down, starts talking, and somehow the pasta disappears much faster than expected.

And yes, in a house where shrimp lovers live, I always make a little extra. Because someone will inevitably say:

"Bas itna hi banaya hai?"

Prawns vs. Shrimp: What's the Difference?

You'll often hear people use prawns and shrimp interchangeably, and honestly, in everyday cooking, the distinction isn't always important.

Technically, prawns and shrimp are different types of crustaceans. They have differences in their body structure, gills and legs. However, the terminology also changes depending on where you live.

In Canada and the United States, you'll commonly see the word shrimp used on packaging and restaurant menus.

In places such as the UK, Australia and parts of Asia, the word prawn is often used more broadly—even for seafood that North Americans would call shrimp.

So if you're standing in the grocery store wondering whether this recipe requires shrimp or prawns:

Use whichever one you have!

For this recipe, I usually buy peeled and deveined shrimp because they're convenient and cook quickly.

Make the Alfredo sauce

  1. Using the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and let it melt.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, making sure it doesn't brown.

Method 1: With just heavy cream

  1. Pour in the heavy cream and stir. Add black pepper, Italian seasoning and a little salt
  2. Let the cream gently simmer for about 2–3 minutes.(Don't let it boil aggressively).
  3. Reduce the heat to low. Gradually add the freshly grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until melted and incorporated into the sauce.
  4. If the sauce becomes too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time. Start with about ¼ cup, stir, and add more as needed.
  5. You want a sauce that is creamy and coats the back of a spoon, not one that feels like a thick cheese paste.

  1. Add flour and let it turn golden now add 1 cup of warm milk gradually while whisking. Add: black pepper, Italian seasoning and a little salt

Add the pasta

  1. Add the cooked fettuccine directly into the sauce.
  2. Using tongs, gently toss the pasta until every strand is coated in that creamy Alfredo sauce.
  3. If needed, add another splash of pasta water.

Add the shrimp
