Sesame Chicken

Sesame chicken is one of those kinds of dishes which makes everyone happy at the table. It is not overly spicy so the kids enjoy it equally. It can be made with prawns and with or without a variety of vegetables. I like it with spring/green onion, bell pepper and a little bit of shallot  . The actual recipe uses wine or sake ( Japanese rice wine ) but I replaced it with vinegar. The best type of cut for sesame chicken is thigh meat deboned and coated with cornstarch and egg. After  frying the bite sized meat pieces are dressed with thick sauce.

Tip

Different brand of corn starch thickens differently. Some of the Pakistani cornstarch brands (like Rafhan) are much lighter and needs a little bit extra to attain desired sauce like thickness. You can dissolve a teaspoon  of this cornstarch  in cold water and use it while simmering the sauce.

Also if you find sauce a little bit thicker then the desired consistency , then you can add little bit of stock or water to the sauce.

Sesame Chicken

Sesame chicken is very subtle dish which can be equally enjoyed with steamed or any kind of fried rice.
