For the White Sauce (Béchamel)

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)

Lasagna Layers

  • 8–10 lasagna sheets (pre-boiled or oven-ready)
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken Filling

  1. Heat 2 tbsp oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add 1 chopped onion and sauté until soft and lightly golden.
  3. Add 1 tbsp minced garlic and cook for 30–40 seconds.
  4. Add 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken.
  5. Season with 1 tsp paprika, ½ tsp black pepper, 1 tsp oregano, ½–1 tsp salt, and ½ tsp chili flakes if desired.
  6. Add 1 cup pasta sauce or crushed tomatoes.
  7. Mix well and cook for 5–7 minutes, until the filling thickens. Set aside.

Make the White Sauce

  1. Melt 2 tbsp butter in a saucepan over low-medium heat.
  2. Add 2 tbsp all-purpose flour and whisk for about 1 minute.
  3. Slowly add 2 cups milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
  4. Cook until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper.
  6. Stir in ½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese and remove from heat.

Prepare the Lasagna Sheets

  1. Cook the lasagna sheets according to the package instructions if you’re not using oven-ready sheets.
  2. Drain and keep them ready for layering.

Assemble the Lasagna

In a greased baking dish, layer

    1. White sauce → Lasagna sheets → Chicken filling → Mozzarella cheese
    2. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used.
    3. Finish with a generous layer of mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.

    Bake

    1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    2. Cover the dish loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
    3. Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden.

    Rest & Serve

    1. Let the lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers set and makes it much easier to serve.
