Khara Masala qeema is one of the comfort food me and my whole family enjoy. It can be served with any kind of flat bread ( roti, naan, chapatti) or rice.
Tip
If you are using chicken, then reduce the of water added at the start to half as chicken doesn’t need that much water.
Qeema khara masala
Ingredients
- 500 gm gm ground beef
- 2 Large tomatoes thinly diced
- 5-6 Large onion thick slices
- 1 Small onion diced
- ½ cup Yogurt whisked
- 2 tbsp Crushed Whole Coriander Seeds
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Red chili flakes
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 4-5 Curry leaves
- 3-4 Button chili
- 2 tbsp Whole spices 1 black & 3-4 green cardamoms, 1 cinnamon stick, , 1/2 tsp black peppercorns
- 3-4 Garlic cloves thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp Ginger Julienne cut
- 2-3 Green chillies thinly sliced.
- ½ cup Coriander leaves and mint leaves.
- 1 cup Oil
Instructions
- Add meat, 3-4 cups of water , sliced onion, salt, crushed chili flakes, ginger garlic paste in a pot and let it simmer for 15 min on high flame..
- Once the liquid reduces to half add tomatoes and yogurt while stirring.
- Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes with a closed lid on medium heat.
- In a separate frying pan add oil, diced onion, whole spices, garlic slices, ginger , curry leaves, green chilies, crushed coriander seeds and cumin and fry everything till golden brown.
- Add this tempering in the meat when the water is almost reduced to ½ cup.
- Cook on low heat till the oil separates (around 10-25 min).
- At the end sprinkle coriander and mint leaves on top of it before serving.
- Serve it hot with naan, roti or steamed rice.
