Prawn Tempura

 

Tempura is Japanese style of cooking mostly using seafood , very much similar to fritters in desi cooking.  The batter which is used for coating is thin, airy made out of ice cold water. 

Tips

Heat oil properly if u add prawns in cold oil ur prawn will get soggy
Fry them on medium high flame
Use chilled water or keep your batter in freezer for sometime
Do not over cook or fry prawns other wise they will become rubbery or hard maximum frying time is 3 to 4 min.

Prawn Tempura

Make crispy delicious Prawn Tempura at home using this recipe. Prawns are my family favorite so whenever I make them they are a hit.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gms Prawns large or medium size with tail
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper crushed
  • 6-7 cups Oil for deep frying
  • 3 tbs Corn Flour

For batter :

  • ½ cup All purpose flour
  • ½ cup Corn flour
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Egg
  • ½ tsp White Pepper
  • Ice cold water as needed

Instructions
 

  • Marinate prawns with black pepper and salt for about 30 min.
  • Make 2-3 small slits on the curved side of prawns to make them straight.
  • Now coat them with corn flour.
  • Make batter with the above ingredient, it shouldn't be very runny.
  • Heat the oil in a deep wok
  • Dip each prawn in batter by holding its tail and fry until colors turn into golden brown.
