Hi everyone
My name is Mehwish Khan, a Pakistani Canadian and internationally trained physician living in Milton, Ontario. I am a doctor turned health informatics professional turned a mom of five.
Being born and raised in a Hyderabadi household, I had a strong connection with spices and masalas. My journey as a home cook started at my mom’s kitchen where I learned basic cooking skills. Memon Markaz in Karachi gave me an opportunity to learn international cooking and baking. I had the pleasure of learning from some amazing chefs like late Chef Sarah Riaz. And after I got married to a foodie husband, I learned the non-Hyderabadi versions of day-to-day recipes from my mother-in-law (who is a great cook herself). You will find recipes from three generations i.e., from my grandma’s to my mom’s and to mine.
When others used to read a book, take a nap, or watch a movie or a show, I roll my sleeves to bake a cake or cook a newly found recipe as a favorite pastime.
About My blog.
I always wanted to share my passion for cooking and baking, but I could never work up the nerve to start it though. The idea of putting myself in front of the entire virtual world was (and still kind of is) a little terrifying to me.
In the fall of 2019, I began to break out of my comfort zone when the Covid lockdowns gave me a chance to explore and channelize my love for baking and cooking and that is when I started my page to share my passion with everyone. In 2019, I launched am_bi_fy with the vision of preserving my family recipes, while making cooking simple and fun for novice cooks, recipes that have given me great memories of my childhood and beyond. And since then, I have been on a mission to develop easy recipes, combining modern techniques and authentic flavors. You will find this blog a fusion of culture, heritage, and modern cooking. In this food blog, I not only focused on healthy recipes for everyday use from diverse cuisine types, but also famous Pakistani street food and Pakistani food delicacies. If you love Pakistani, Indian & Continental food, Veg & Non-Veg, this blog will be extremely helpful for you.
